ABOUT

ONE SCENE was born from a desire to create the kind of space many emerging playwrights spend years searching for: a room, an audience, and the chance to hear their work come alive.

In a world constantly asking audiences to move faster, scroll further, and consume more, ONE SCENE exists to slow things down for a moment. To sit in a room together. To listen closely. To experience live performance in its most stripped-down and human form.

Each event features original scenes from emerging and independent playwrights performed live in an intimate setting with minimal staging and maximum emotional impact. The focus is not spectacle. It’s tension. Vulnerability. Connection. The moments that make a room go completely still.

We are especially drawn to scenes that stand emotionally on their own without giving away the larger work they come from. Scenes that hint at a bigger world while still leaving audiences feeling like they experienced something complete.

ONE SCENE exists to create space for new voices, unforgettable performances, and the kinds of moments people carry home with them afterward.

Because sometimes one scene says it all.

WHAT ONE SCENE PROVIDES

ONE SCENE provides the venue, event promotion, audience, staging environment, and overall production of the evening, including a printed playbill featuring the selected works and playwrights. Scenes are presented in a minimalist setting designed to keep the focus on the writing and performances themselves.

WHAT PLAYWRIGHTS PROVIDE

Selected playwrights are responsible for supplying their own actors/performers for the event. Because ONE SCENE is intentionally minimalist in format, scenes should require little to no set construction, technical effects, or elaborate props.

At this time, ONE SCENE functions as a curated live showcase rather than a full theater production company.
